Overview
Gift cards in Singenuity are dollar-value codes that can be used as a payment method toward anything in the system β activities, merchandise, photos, taxes, fees, and more. Unlike gift certificates, gift cards are not single-use. A customer can spend their gift card balance across multiple transactions over time until the balance is exhausted.
Gift cards are a great fit when you want to give customers maximum flexibility. If you're looking for a single-use code tied specifically to an activity, see the Gift Certificates article.
Tip: If you'd like to donate a gift card to someone at no charge, you can sell it internally using the External - Internal Department payment method. This signals that your operation is purchasing it from itself and allows the system to generate the code with a balance on it.
Note: Gift cards can also be issued as refunds when a customer reschedules or cancels a booking. For more information, see the Self Reschedule & Self Cancellation article.
Accessing Gift Cards
Navigate to manage.singenuity.com and select Products in the top menu. In the left-hand sidebar, click Gift Cards.
This opens three tabs: General, Values, and Fees.
Part 1: General Settings
The General tab controls the overall behavior of gift cards for your operation. Configure the following:
Enable Gift Cards: Activates or deactivates gift cards entirely. Toggle this on to allow gift cards to be used in your system.
Sell Gift Cards Online: Determines whether gift cards are available for purchase on your customer-facing booking website. If toggled off, gift cards can still be sold internally by staff.
Collect Mailing Address: When enabled, customers will be prompted to provide a mailing address during the gift card purchase process.
Image: Upload an image to represent your gift cards on the booking website.
Gift Card Description: A customer-facing description that appears on the booking website when customers are browsing gift cards for purchase.
Part 2: Configuring Values
The Values tab is where you set what denominations of gift cards are available for purchase. You'll enable one of two options:
Default Values: Offers a standard set of gift card amounts: $50, $100, $150, and $200.
Custom Values: Allows you to create your own denominations. There is no limit to how many custom values you can create, and each can be given its own name and online description.
Tip: If you want a gift card to cover the full cost of an activity with no remaining balance, set a custom value that matches the tax-inclusive total of that activity at checkout.
Part 3: Fees
The Fees tab is where you can apply taxes and fees to gift card purchases if needed. Applying fees to gift cards is uncommon since gift cards represent a dollar value rather than a specific product, but the option is available if your operation requires it.
The Customer Experience
A customer visits your booking website and purchases a gift card.
They receive two emails: a purchase confirmation and a separate email containing their unique gift card code sent to the designated recipient.
To redeem the gift card, the customer proceeds through the booking process as normal β selecting their activity, filling in their information, and reaching the payment screen.
On the payment screen, there is a Gift Card button which opens a field to enter the gift card code. Once entered, the gift card balance is applied toward the order total.
If the gift card balance exceeds the order total, the remaining balance stays on the gift card for future use. If the order total exceeds the gift card balance, the remaining amount can be paid with another payment method.
Conclusion
Gift cards are the most flexible form of credit you can offer your customers in Singenuity β reusable, broadly applicable, and easy to manage. For a more targeted, activity-specific option, see the Gift Certificates article. For information on issuing gift card refunds through the rescheduling or cancellation process, see the Self Reschedule & Self Cancellation article.
